NHS Gambling Service: North
The NHS Northern Gambling Service provides specialist addiction therapies and treatment for adults who are experiencing gambling harms and addiction, as well as therapy for any related mental health difficulties. The service also begins the journey of sustained recovery and helps to connect you to peer support and community resources and connections, should that be relevant.
We understand what a big step it is to come forward and to seek help. What awaits you is a warm and friendly non-judgemental team, well trained and knowledgeable to help you to address the gambling and set you on a path to fulfil your potential. Even if you are not convinced you are ready to change, please come forward and talk to us. It is normal to feel in a dilemma about what to do.
The only criteria for referral is that you are concerned about gambling and experiencing some harm.
Having a loved one or friend who has a gambling addiction is an extremely stressful experience, which can affect your physical health, psychological wellbeing, finances, and relationships. This suggests that you need help in your own right, to enable you to cope better with what are usually ongoing issues. Our service offers a care pathway for affected family members, whether the gambler is in treatment or not. The pathway is a mixture of sessions with a therapist, followed by the opportunity to join other affected loved ones in a peer support group.
