Complex Connexions CIC

At Complex Connexions CIC we support parents and young people around neurodivergence and mental wellbeing. We offer workshops for parents to help them build stronger connections with their young person by better understanding them as an individual, and developing more positive and empowering communication with them. We also offer workshops for young people to help them to become more aware of their thoughts and emotions and better understand their innate mental wellbeing. Parents take part in some of these workshops too, to support positive family mental health conversations.

Our parent workshops, 'Connexions for your Family', are a series of 6 workshops held in-person or online, to help parents to better understand, communicate, and connect with their neurodivergent young person. We hold these in small groups to enable participants to have the opportunity to talk to other parents and to feel part of a supportive group. In each workshop there is time to share information around the principles, to discuss these with others and work out how to apply the information in their own family situation. There is also a focus on parents caring for themselves as an essential part of the process of supporting their young person. We spend time exploring the principles of understanding, communication, and connection as they relate to themselves as well.

In our workshops for young people, we share the information from the 'My Mental Health Rocks' programme and include fun activities to explore our innate mental wellbeing as well as our thoughts and emotions. Parents are invited in at the end of each session so that the children can share what they have learnt. This empowers parents to continue learning at home and also to have a platform for conversations around mental health at home.
