Women's Workshop

Women's Workshop is run by women for women, and supports women facing challenges such as family poverty, isolation, mental health, sexual violence and abuse, or discrimination. We can offer long-term practical and emotional support and a range of small group activities and projects. We also have our welcoming Workshop space open every Monday 11-1 for activities and support, and a drop-in from 1-3pm, in Amble with refeshments. Wednesdays 11-1 we have a gardening and environment related programme, and there are some village based peer support groups to join.

We value women's strengths and skills and use a peer support approach to help women build confidence and progress towards their goals. We use arts, crafts, drama, gardening, physical activities, discussions and campaigns and work with partners to create better access for women for what's available.

Who can use this service?

How are services delivered?

Women's Workshop is particularly keen to support women who face additional barriers as a result of their age (younger or older), parenting or caring role, family poverty, sexual orientation, transition, ethnic background, mental health, disability or learning differences.

We offer one to one and small group support, and offer a programme of actvities in response to what women say they would like to take part in. These incude arts and crafts, drama, singing, and eco-projects using willow, herbs and flowers from our garden. We offer women-friendly DIY classes and projects to have a go at making our own garden structures.

We run projects on topical themes such as violence against women, climate change and poverty, and encourage women to have a say on issues that affect them.

We run the HERitage collective to support women in setting up and building small businesses.
