Carers Northumberland

We are an independent charity that works with carers to offer a wide range of support and information, including links to other services, both statutory and voluntary. We support carers of all ages, including under 18s and our Working for Carers project supports carers looking for education, employment or volunteering information and advice.

We provide a range of services to support carers including; a comprehensive information and advice service, one-to-one support, regular newsletters, regular carers groups, activities and events, training and skills development for carers, volunteers and professionals, access to short breaks, and promoting and raising awareness of carers rights. 

Our information and advice team can support with enquiries around benefits, finance, lasting power of attorney, accessing social care, carers assessments and much more.

Working for Carers project: We understand that trying to find a balance between looking after someone and work, training, school or university can be a real challenge. Our Working for Carers advisors can offer friendly and specialised one-to-one support for you. If you are currently in work, or looking for employment, education, volunteering or training opportunities, our advisors can here to listen and help you.

How are services delivered?

Carers Northumberland supports all carers in the county including young carers, parent carers and adult carers.  If you look after someone who wouldn't manage without you, then you are a carer.

We also support other professionals who might like to access carer awareness training or ask questions about carer rights.

We provide advice and support over the phone, by email, video chat or in person at our range of groups and events held countywide.
